Most of the extensive work should be done within the mix. If you are doing too much in the master then you are a new age engineer and you need to try to accomplish all of that in the mix so that the Masters just for slight polishing. Any experience engineer will tell you to stop doing too much on your mastering Channel and stop mixing into plugins on your master bus

There are NO RULES

I literally record vocals with nothing but CLA reverb on the bus. Do this for the ENTIRE record. Then go in after and add tune and mix it. It's SOOOOO clean this way. Have the Artist go sing/rap it in with nothing but reverb. Then go in and add plugins after during mixing. This will also solve the issue of "singers" who can't really sing relying on the autotune too much. Take it off completely.

Yeah, Epic and Neo are dope. I have them both. I need to go back to them. Side note SSL flex reverb does something to Neo, but you can only blend between two reverbs at a time.

Devon is not wrong though, back when I didn’t know protools I used to hate on it. 14 years later I’ve mastered protools and can say everything is so easy within the system. You just use a command and click to change lots of things and is easier than most people think. Ableton is 5 extra steps more than a 2 step process in protools 😂😂

Yall hatin bro, period. I use Cubase 13 pro as my main daw, pro tools as my secondary DAW and studio one 6 pro. Cubase for me is the most flexible DAW among the three because, I allows me to easily control almost everything in it. clip gaining is better and faster in Cubase too. I loved how I recorded with a cut track in pro tools, but I copied that way into Cubase and I have been happier ever since. Also, Studio one project mastering suite is the best.

I’ve always had a bit of a struggle with reference mixing. Whenever I reference, then send to mastering, they’re always a little annoyed because I’ve reference MIXED a song against a MASTERED track. I’m not good enough with mixing yet to properly hear past it

In my experience cubase have been forever and do to that people assume is like an old daw lost in time like pro tools and they trend to forget to mention it when it comes to producer daw. Most people who even talk badly of it or say something negative never have try cubase before or just have try it half a decades ago old versions like cubase 5. I see studio one users, Ableton and even logic users treating cubase like it did not exist or is not something for producing just recording and mixing. When they forgot most of their daw are inspired and copy ideas of cubase and Steinberg invented the vst technology they love to use. Cubase is in my experience the most complete daw for everything I have use Ableton, logic and studio one and cubase is way more complete and better in all those things in my opinion. Sadly cubase have become today like an underground daw in music scene especially in US. In my opinion cubase deserve better recognition
